Including filter system and high-performance 4:2 FTS filter.
4:2 FTS is one member of the PFAS family that can travel through soil and water and sometimes shows up on municipal notices, real estate testing, or private well reports. Because you can’t see, smell, or taste it, many Eden homeowners choose to limit exposure as a precaution — especially for drinking and cooking water and for baths. Dealing with 4:2 FTS starts with treatments made to reduce PFAS, not just systems that remove sediment or improve flavor.
Since 4:2 FTS belongs to the broader group of fluorinated compounds, reports may list it alongside other PFAS even when it’s the specific concern. Typical carbon taste filters, water softeners, and sediment cartridges aren’t designed to reliably remove PFAS on their own. For Eden homes — whether on municipal supply or a private well, which can affect hardness and mineral content — the most dependable strategy is a whole-house system installed at the main line so every faucet and appliance is covered rather than relying on a single point-of-use filter.
When the goal is whole-home reduction of 4:2 FTS, the best single-choice filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) tank built and sized specifically for PFAS removal. Activated carbon can adsorb many PFAS compounds, but effectiveness hinges on having sufficient carbon volume and contact time as water passes through the media. For that reason, a full-size, backwashing or tank-based GAC unit generally outperforms small inline cartridges for meaningful whole-house treatment in Eden’s moderate-hardness water.
A properly sized whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main water line to treat showers, sinks, laundry and the kitchen all at once, and it’s commonly paired with a sediment prefilter to protect the carbon bed from clogging. For contaminants like 4:2 FTS, ongoing maintenance matters as much as the initial install because exhausted carbon loses its ability to adsorb PFAS. Mr. Pure Water can assess your Eden home’s flow requirements and water conditions and recommend the right GAC system so you get consistent, house-wide protection.
