Including filter system and high-performance 8:2 FTS filter.
8:2 FTS is one member of the PFAS family—man-made chemicals that persist in the environment and can show up in drinking water. Meridian homeowners may come across it in local water reports, news coverage, or independent testing. Because 8:2 FTS doesn’t change the taste, smell, or look of water, you won’t notice it without testing. If you’re worried about exposure in your Meridian household, the most sensible step is to choose treatment that targets PFAS broadly, including 8:2 FTS.
When 8:2 FTS is present in household water, it can be used throughout the day for cooking, showering, laundry, and cleaning. Many under-sink or pitcher-style filters only protect a single tap, leaving the rest of your Meridian home unfiltered. A whole-house system treats incoming water at the point it enters your property so every faucet and appliance benefits, removing the guesswork about which water is being used and helping protect plumbing and fixtures as well as reducing PFAS like 8:2 FTS.
The most effective single-filter whole-house option for reducing 8:2 FTS is a dedicated PFAS-rated activated carbon system, commonly built with high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon adsorbs many organic contaminants and is widely used to lower PFAS levels in water treatment. Because different PFAS behave differently, what matters most is having sufficient carbon media and adequate contact time—more than a small cartridge can provide. A properly sized whole-house GAC filter is designed to handle all the water entering a Meridian home rather than relying on a lone sink filter.
A whole-house GAC filter for 8:2 FTS is installed on the main water line so treated water reaches showers, faucets, and appliances throughout your Meridian home. System performance depends on flow rate, local water chemistry, and how long the carbon has been in service, so choosing the right media capacity and scheduling timely replacements is important. These systems are often paired with prefiltration to remove sediment that can shorten carbon life; for consistent PFAS reduction in Meridian households, pick a whole-house GAC system sized and maintained for continuous homewide flow.
