Including filter system and high-performance Aldicarb filter.
Aldicarb is a pesticide that can end up in drinking water when it moves off treated land into wells, springs, or other local sources. You typically won’t see or smell it in your tap water in Capitola, so the only way to know if it’s present is through a water test or your water provider’s report. Because use and regulation have changed over the years, people often worry about whether older residues or breakdown products remain; testing is the most reliable way for Capitola homeowners to find out what’s in their water.
As aldicarb degrades it can form related chemicals such as aldicarb sulfoxide and aldicarb sulfone. Labs sometimes list those breakdown products separately, but they trace back to the same original pesticide, so any mention of these names on a report should be viewed as part of the same issue. For families in Capitola, taking a whole-house view makes sense because it treats water used for showers, laundry and all taps—not just the kitchen sink.
To reduce aldicarb in household water, the most effective single whole-house option is a granular activated carbon (GAC) filter. GAC reduces many organic contaminants by adsorbing them onto the carbon surface—something simple sediment filters can’t do. The system needs the right tank size, carbon volume and contact time to handle your home’s peak flows so treatment remains steady throughout a Capitola house whether you’re running multiple fixtures or filling a washing machine.
A properly configured whole-house GAC system will also help lower levels of aldicarb sulfoxide and aldicarb sulfone, since they behave like related organic compounds in water. Performance depends on factors such as water chemistry, contaminant concentration and household use, so pairing a targeted test with the carbon system helps determine the correct media volume and replacement schedule. Because carbon does become exhausted, routine maintenance is important; Mr. Pure Water can evaluate your Capitola home and size, install and service a whole-home carbon filter so everyone in the house gets treated water.
