Including filter system and high-performance Aldicarb filter.
Aldicarb is a pesticide that can enter water when it moves from treated land into groundwater or surface supplies. In Plains homeowners won’t be able to taste, see, or smell it — it usually appears only on a lab test or in a utility report. Because pesticide uses and regulations have changed over the years, people are often concerned about lingering residues or breakdown products. If you want to know what’s really in your Plains water, start with a proper water test.
As aldicarb degrades it can form related compounds such as aldicarb sulfoxide and aldicarb sulfone, and those names may show up separately on a test result. Seeing any of these labels points back to the same original pesticide chemistry, so treat them together when assessing your water. For Plains homes in our humid subtropical climate, a whole-house approach protects every outlet in the house rather than only the kitchen tap.
To lower aldicarb in household water, the most effective single-filter solution is a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) system. GAC removes many organic chemicals by adsorption, which sediment filters won’t do on their own. The system must be sized with enough carbon and contact time to handle your home’s peak flows so treatment remains effective for showers, laundry, and drinking water throughout Plains.
A properly designed whole-house GAC unit can also reduce aldicarb sulfoxide and aldicarb sulfone since they are chemically related. Because a system’s success depends on your water chemistry, contaminant levels, and household usage, pairing a carbon system with a targeted test helps determine the right media volume and replacement schedule. Routine maintenance is important — carbon becomes exhausted and needs changing — and Mr. Pure Water can size and install a whole-home GAC filter for Plains families so every tap delivers treated water.
