Including filter system and high-performance Alkalinity filter.
Alkalinity refers to water’s capacity to neutralize acids, usually driven by dissolved bicarbonates, carbonates, and hydroxides. In a Modello home, high alkalinity often shows up as a flat or soda-like taste, stubborn scale on fixtures, and soap that won’t rinse away cleanly. It can make water chemistry feel “stubborn,” so small treatment changes don’t seem to help. Although alkalinity and pH are related, they are different measurements, and either one can be out of balance independently.
Because alkalinity comes from natural minerals, levels can vary across South Florida neighborhoods and between municipal supplies and private wells—conditions common around Modello. Homeowners often first notice something’s off when coffee or tea tastes unusual, glassware spots quickly, or white build-up reappears soon after cleaning. Elevated alkalinity can also reduce the effectiveness of some point-of-use filters and water softeners because the water’s underlying chemistry still favors scale. A simple water test will tell you if alkalinity is contributing to your household water issues.
To reduce alkalinity for an entire house, the single most effective solution is a whole-house neutralizing/acid-injection system with a contact tank and a backwashing media filter. These systems dose a controlled amount of food-grade acid to convert excess alkalinity—mainly bicarbonates—into more stable forms, then use the contact tank to mix and the downstream media to polish the water before it reaches your plumbing. That approach delivers more balanced water at every tap in your Modello home rather than treating only one faucet.
Mr. Pure Water sizes alkalinity-reduction systems to match your home’s flow rate and the alkalinity readings from your water analysis, which is important in South Florida’s warm, humid climate where supply and hardness can vary. Proper controls prevent overcorrection that could make water aggressive or unpleasant. With whole-house treatment you protect fixtures, reduce scale, and improve water for bathing, cooking, and cleaning. If you prefer treating only drinking water, we can also discuss under-sink reverse osmosis, but when alkalinity affects the whole house, a whole-home solution is usually best.
