Including filter system and high-performance Alkalinity filter.
Alkalinity refers to water’s ability to neutralize acids and is usually driven by dissolved bicarbonates, carbonates, and hydroxides. In a Stern home, high alkalinity often shows up as a flat or soda-like taste, persistent scale on faucets and showerheads, and soap that won’t rinse away easily. It also makes the water chemistry feel resistant to small treatment changes. Although alkalinity and pH influence each other, they are separate measures and either one can be out of balance without the other.
Because alkalinity comes from natural minerals, levels can differ across Stern and may shift with seasons or between local water sources. Many residents first notice trouble when coffee or tea tastes off, glassware spots appear quickly, or white buildup returns soon after cleaning. Elevated alkalinity can also reduce the effectiveness of some point-of-use filters and water softeners since the water’s chemistry still favors scale formation. A simple water test is the best way to see if alkalinity is contributing to your home’s water issues in Stern.
To lower alkalinity throughout the house, the most reliable single-filter solution is a whole-house neutralizing/acid-injection system with a contact tank and a backwashing media filter. That approach gently doses a food-grade acid to convert excess alkalinity—mainly bicarbonates—into more stable forms, helping bring water into a balanced range. The contact tank allows proper mixing, and the downstream backwashing media polishes the water before it reaches your plumbing, delivering consistent chemistry at every tap in your Stern home.
Mr. Pure Water sizes alkalinity-reduction systems for Stern homes based on your household flow needs and the alkalinity levels measured in your water test. Correct sizing and controls are important to produce steady correction without making water aggressive or unpleasant. With whole-house treatment you’ll better protect fixtures, reduce scale buildup, and improve how water tastes and performs for bathing, cooking, and cleaning. If you only need improved drinking water, we can also review under-sink reverse osmosis, but whole-house neutralizing injection is the best choice when alkalinity affects the entire home.
