Including filter system and high-performance Balamuthia mandrillaris filter.
Balamuthia mandrillaris is a free-living amoeba commonly associated with soil and dust, and in unusual cases it can be present where water contacts sediment. Homeowners in Felkel who want more control over what comes from every tap often begin looking into microbial risks and ways to reduce exposure. If you’re worried about Balamuthia mandrillaris in your household water, a practical step is improving treatment where your water enters the home to limit potential exposure throughout your plumbing.
You can’t rely on taste or clarity alone to know whether water contains microorganisms—clear water doesn’t guarantee it’s free of microbes. Occasional cloudiness, silt, or visible particles can suggest pathways for organisms to travel, though appearance by itself doesn’t prove contamination. Many Felkel families choose a whole-house system so showers, faucets and appliances all get the same treated water, and to keep sediment and particulates from circulating through pipes and fixtures.
The most effective single-filter option for addressing organisms such as Balamuthia mandrillaris is a true whole-house UV disinfection system installed on the main incoming line. UV inactivates microorganisms as water passes a high-output lamp without using chemicals, and it treats every tap in the house—making it a good choice when your priority is reducing microbial risk across the home. It’s important the unit is sized to your home’s flow rate so the UV dose stays effective during normal use.
UV works best when water is clear enough for the light to penetrate, so many homeowners in Felkel pair it with simple prefiltration to remove sediment and cloudiness. Prefiltration also helps protect the UV sleeve and keeps performance consistent. Routine care generally means replacing the UV lamp on schedule and keeping the quartz sleeve clean to maintain light output. Mr. Pure Water can help Felkel residents select and install a whole-house UV system tailored to your plumbing, flow needs, and local water conditions.
