Including filter system and high-performance Balamuthia mandrillaris filter.
Balamuthia mandrillaris is a free-living amoeba commonly associated with soil and dust and, in rare cases, can be present in water where it contacts sediment. Highland View homeowners who learn about microbial risks often want more control over the water entering their houses. If you’re worried about Balamuthia mandrillaris in your household water, the practical approach is to reduce exposure by improving treatment where water comes into your home.
Because microorganisms can’t be seen or tasted, a clear glass doesn’t guarantee water is free of organisms. Occasional cloudy water, silt, or visible debris can suggest pathways for microbes, though appearance alone can’t confirm contamination. Many families around Highland View choose whole-house treatment so showers, faucets, and appliances all get the same treated water — a setup that also helps keep sediment and particulates from moving through your plumbing.
For addressing organisms like Balamuthia mandrillaris, the most effective single-filter option is a true whole-house UV disinfection system mounted on the main water line. UV inactivates microorganisms as water passes a high-output lamp without adding chemicals, making it a sensible choice when you want uniform protection at every tap. It’s important the unit be sized for your home’s flow so the UV dose remains effective during normal Highland View household use.
UV systems work best when the water is clear enough for light to penetrate, so many Highland View homeowners pair them with basic prefiltration to reduce sediment and cloudiness. Prefiltration helps protect the UV sleeve and keeps performance consistent; routine upkeep generally includes scheduled lamp replacement and cleaning the quartz sleeve to preserve light output. Mr. Pure Water can help Highland View residents select and install a whole-house UV system matched to their plumbing, flow needs, and water conditions.
