Including filter system and high-performance Calicivirus filter.
Calicivirus refers to a family of viruses that can enter drinking water when contamination happens, often linked to human waste. Because these viruses are far too small to see, water that looks clear in an Ebb home can still pose a risk. Residents typically learn about viral concerns through private well testing, utility notices, or following a nearby system issue; understanding how these viruses behave is the first step toward protecting your household taps.
Viruses like calicivirus aren’t detectable by taste or sight the way rust or sediment are, and boiling isn’t practical for treating a whole house. They can be introduced through compromised plumbing, backflow, flooding, or vulnerabilities in a private well and can travel with the water into bathrooms, laundry, and kitchens. That’s why many Ebb homeowners choose a point-of-entry strategy — treating water where it enters the house so every outlet is covered at once.
The single most effective whole-house technology for controlling calicivirus is ultraviolet (UV) disinfection. Rather than filtering out particles like a carbon system, a UV unit uses a lamp to inactivate microorganisms as water passes through a stainless steel chamber. When sized and maintained correctly, UV is a proven method for addressing viruses and is a practical choice for Ebb homeowners who want continuous protection without altering daily water use.
UV works best when the incoming water is clear enough for light to penetrate, so it’s commonly installed with a sediment prefilter, but the UV lamp remains the primary defense against calicivirus. Reliable performance requires correct flow rate, a clean quartz sleeve, and scheduled lamp replacement because UV intensity falls over time. UV treatment doesn’t add chemicals or change taste, offering a simple, effective point-of-entry barrier — and Mr. Pure Water can help Ebb homeowners pick and size the right whole-house UV system for their water conditions and household needs.
