Carbaryl in North Key Largo Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Carbaryl in the Water Supply of North Key Largo Florida Homes

Carbaryl is a pesticide that can enter water when it runs off treated lawns, agricultural areas, or stormwater into nearby waterways or groundwater. In North Key Largo, where coastal runoff and heavy rains can influence local water, many homeowners choose to limit even small trace exposures in drinking, cooking, and bathing water. Because carbaryl often has no noticeable taste or smell at low concentrations, the most dependable way to know what’s in your water is to test it and then follow a treatment plan based on the results.

Water that looks clear can still carry contaminants like carbaryl, especially after storms or seasonal runoff shifts common in the Florida Keys. Point-of-use filters at a kitchen sink may help with drinking water but leave showers, laundry, and outdoor faucets unprotected. For North Key Largo households that want broader coverage — whether in Ocean Reef Club, Port Largo, or other nearby neighborhoods — treating water at the main line gives consistent protection to every faucet and appliance in the home.
