Carbon Tetrachloride in Esto Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Carbon Tetrachloride in the Water Supply of Esto Florida Homes

Carbon tetrachloride is a volatile organic compound (VOC) that can enter drinking water when industrial chemicals or stored solvents reach groundwater supplies. You might also see it listed as tetrachloromethane on lab reports. As a VOC it can travel with water and sometimes becomes noticeable when water is aerated at the tap, though taste and smell are not reliable ways to detect it. If you live in Esto and are worried about what’s in your water, the only way to know is to have it tested.

Because VOCs can dissolve in otherwise clear water, many Esto homeowners opt to treat water at the point it enters the house so every use is covered. A whole-house system protects drinking and cooking water as well as showers, laundry, and cleaning—important because volatile compounds can be released into the air during bathing or dishwashing. If your test results show carbon tetrachloride or tetrachloromethane, choose a treatment specifically built to reduce VOCs rather than relying on a basic sediment filter.
