Including filter system and high-performance Chlordecone filter.
Chlordecone is a long‑lasting pesticide that can remain in the environment long after use. If it reaches a drinking water source, it may be present at very low concentrations that you won’t notice without testing, since it doesn’t cause a distinct taste or odor. Many Barker Store homeowners choose to address potential chlordecone at the point where water enters the house so every tap is covered consistently and quietly.
Even if your water looks clear in Barker Store, trace contaminants such as chlordecone can still be present and a concern for households wanting extra protection. Treating only one faucet leaves other daily uses—showers, laundry, appliances—unfiltered. A whole-house filter treats water as it enters your home so every fixture sees the same level of protection without changing how you use it.
For reducing chlordecone, an activated carbon whole-house filter is generally the best single-filter option. Carbon media adsorbs many organic and pesticide-type compounds by trapping them on its surface and within its pores, making it effective for low-level contaminants that sediment filters won’t catch. Installed at the main water line in a Barker Store home, this system treats water before it reaches any faucet or appliance.
A correctly sized whole-house carbon system provides sufficient contact time and media volume so adsorption works effectively as water moves through the bed. As the water flows, chlordecone is captured while the rest of your household supply continues uninterrupted. Like any single-media approach, performance depends on matching the system to your home’s flow rate and keeping routine maintenance; Mr. Pure Water can help Barker Store residents confirm the right size and maintenance schedule based on your goals and any available water testing.
