Including filter system and high-performance Chloroform filter.
Chloroform can form when disinfectants such as chlorine react with natural organic matter during water treatment; it’s also called trichloromethane and is part of a larger group known as disinfection byproducts. In Bon Ami households you might notice subtle changes in taste or odor, especially with hot water used for showers or washing dishes. Even if the water looks clear at the tap, compounds like chloroform can still be present and affect everyday use.
Because chloroform is volatile, it doesn’t only matter when you drink water — it can off-gas indoors while you bathe, cook, or do laundry. That’s why many Bon Ami residents choose treatment at the point where water enters the house instead of relying solely on pitchers or under-sink units. A whole-house system reduces what your family encounters throughout the home, helping maintain familiar routines while improving overall water quality.
The most effective single-filter option for reducing chloroform in household water is a whole-house activated carbon filter. Carbon media adsorbs many organic contaminants, including trichloromethane, as water flows through the system, and when installed on the main line it treats every tap in a Bon Ami home — from showers to the kitchen sink. This approach removes unwanted compounds without adding chemicals, delivering treated water throughout your plumbing.
To work well for a Bon Ami home, a carbon whole-house filter must provide sufficient contact time and appropriate media volume for your household flow rate, and the media or cartridges need regular replacement so performance stays high. Mr. Pure Water can help you choose the right-sized activated carbon unit for your plumbing, install it, and keep it running quietly so treated water is available at every faucet without fuss.
