Including filter system and high-performance Earthy Taste filter.
An earthy taste in your water can make simple things — drinking, cooking or brushing your teeth — less enjoyable. Homeowners often call it musty, like damp soil, or a lingering “pond” flavor. In humid subtropical areas like Kingsland on the Space Coast, natural organic matter from surface sources and warm conditions can play a role, so even water that’s safe to drink can still taste off.
This flavor problem is commonly caused by compounds such as geosmin and 2-MIB, produced by algae, bacteria, and decaying vegetation in source water. Seasonal shifts, distribution system disturbances, or changes in treatment can make these compounds more noticeable, and because they’re detectable at very low concentrations a slight change can seem dramatic. The encouraging news for Kingsland residents is that these taste-and-odor issues are often correctable with the right filtration strategy.
For whole-house removal of earthy taste, a single activated carbon filter is usually the best option. High-quality catalytic or dense activated carbon media adsorb the trace compounds responsible for musty, earthy flavors and odors. When installed at your main water line, this system treats water before it reaches kitchen taps, bathrooms and showers, giving homes across Kingsland more pleasant-tasting water from every outlet.
A correctly sized carbon tank provides the contact time needed for adsorption — a critical factor in reducing earthy taste. This method addresses the underlying flavor compounds without adding chemicals or simply masking the issue. Many homeowners in Brevard County prefer whole-house carbon filtration as a long-term way to keep water tasting better for drinking, cooking and bathing, and to help offset the effects of Kingsland’s moderate water hardness and warm climate on taste variability.
