Ethinyl Estradiol in North Merritt Island Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Ethinyl Estradiol in the Water Supply of North Merritt Island Florida Homes

Ethinyl estradiol is a synthetic estrogen used in some medications and trace amounts can sometimes reach local water sources. Because it can be active at very low concentrations, many North Merritt Island homeowners choose a precautionary approach even when their water looks and tastes normal. It commonly gets into waterways via treated wastewater and ongoing household discharge, so if you draw from municipal or private well supplies in the Brevard County area and want greater assurance, testing paired with targeted filtration can help put your mind at ease.

Typical municipal treatment systems focus on particles, microbes and other common issues rather than every trace organic compound. Ethinyl estradiol is part of a larger class of micropollutants that often require specialized steps to remove, and because it has no obvious smell or color it can go unnoticed without lab testing. For homes across North Merritt Island — whether you’re near Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge or closer to developed neighborhoods — a whole-house plan treats the water used for bathing, cooking and laundry consistently.
