Including filter system and high-performance Ethylene Dibromide filter.
Ethylene dibromide, often called EDB, is a synthetic chemical that can reach drinking water when past industrial or agricultural uses affect groundwater. It’s usually present at trace levels you can’t see, smell, or taste, which is why homeowners in Ocean Vue often rely on testing and local water reports to flag it. Treating water at the point it enters your home with a whole-house system protects every faucet and fixture, not just a single tap.
If you suspect ethylene dibromide in your supply, start with accurate testing and confirm results before choosing treatment. EDB behaves differently than chlorine, sediment, or typical hard-water minerals, so it usually needs a targeted solution. Ocean Vue residents on private wells should be especially vigilant because levels can shift over time, and in our humid subtropical coastal climate equipment maintenance after storms or salt-air exposure is worth keeping in mind. The right filtration media matters more than simply stacking filter stages.
The most effective single media for reducing ethylene dibromide in many home systems is activated carbon, commonly installed as catalytic or high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Carbon adsorbs many organic compounds as water flows through, which makes it a go-to choice for treating EDB. In a whole-house setup sized correctly for your household, a GAC tank treats water for showers, laundry, cooking, and all faucets — an approach that suits Ocean Vue homeowners looking for comprehensive protection.
Choose a whole-house activated carbon system matched to your peak flow rate and with enough media volume to provide proper contact time — small cartridges that water rushes through won’t deliver the same protection. Adding a sediment pre-filter helps shield the carbon bed from clogging, especially important near the coast where salt-air corrosion and storm-related service interruptions can affect equipment. Because EDB removal is capacity-based, plan for regular media replacement before breakthrough occurs; Mr. Pure Water can assess your Ocean Vue home and recommend and install the right whole-house carbon filter for your plumbing and daily demand.
