Including filter system and high-performance GenX filter.
GenX is a member of the PFAS family and is sometimes called HFPO-DA; it’s part of the group often called “forever chemicals” because they persist in the environment. Homeowners can’t see or taste GenX, so the only reliable way to know if it’s present is testing — something many Kuhlman residents consider, especially given our hard, limestone-aquifer-influenced water that can already cause scale. When people learn levels may be elevated, they commonly look for an effective, whole-home solution to reduce exposure at every faucet and shower.
Because GenX tends to occur at low concentrations, treatment aimed at PFAS is required rather than simple taste-and-odor fixes. A point-of-use filter can serve a single sink for drinking and cooking, but it won’t protect showers, laundry, or teeth-brushing across a Kuhlman household. Whole-house filtration treats water as it enters your home so every tap and appliance sees the same reduced levels. The objective is steady, reliable reduction with a system sized and serviced for your family’s daily demand.
For whole-house GenX removal, the most effective single media is granular activated carbon (GAC) installed with proper design: quality carbon, adequate bed depth, and enough contact time. GenX (HFPO-DA) can be trickier to remove than some other PFAS, so factors like carbon type, flow rate, and when the media is spent matter. A properly sized GAC tank on the main line treats all incoming water in Kuhlman homes, reducing GenX at showers, faucets, and appliances without adding chemicals.
Activated carbon works by adsorption, so giving water sufficient time in the carbon bed and replacing media on schedule are key. In Kuhlman, our hard water and higher household use can shorten carbon life if a system isn’t sized correctly, which is why Mr. Pure Water designs GAC systems around your plumbing and usage. Regular maintenance and periodic testing will confirm GenX reduction and tell you when service or media replacement is needed.
