Including filter system and high-performance GenX filter.
GenX is a member of the PFAS family that can enter drinking water when industrial chemicals reach sources of supply. Also called HFPO-DA, it’s grouped with other “forever chemicals” because it can persist in the environment. Homeowners in Meridian won’t detect GenX by sight or taste, which makes testing the only reliable way to know what’s in your water. When concentrations are a concern, many local families look for practical options to lower exposure at every tap.
Because GenX typically appears at very low levels, treatment aimed at PFAS is needed rather than basic taste-and-odor filters. A point-of-use unit at one sink can protect drinking and cooking water, but it won’t treat showers, laundry, toothbrushing, or ice makers in a Meridian home. Installing whole-house filtration treats water as it enters your plumbing so everyday uses are covered. The objective is steady reduction across the house with a system sized and maintained for your household’s water demand.
For whole-house removal, the single media that performs best against GenX and other PFAS is granular activated carbon (GAC) when it’s designed with high-quality carbon and adequate contact time. GenX (HFPO-DA) can be harder to capture than some longer-chain PFAS, so factors like carbon type, bed depth, and flow rate matter. A properly installed whole-house GAC tank on the main line treats incoming water so showers and faucets around your Meridian home see reduced GenX without adding chemicals.
Activated carbon removes contaminants by adsorption, so performance relies on sufficient contact time and timely media replacement. Heavy household use, fast flow rates, or other competing contaminants shorten carbon life, which is why correct sizing and a maintenance plan are important for Meridian homeowners. Mr. Pure Water configures whole-house GAC systems to match each home’s plumbing demand, and periodic water testing gives you confirmation that GenX reduction remains consistent and indicates when service is needed.
