Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite that can enter drinking water when hardy cysts are introduced to a supply; you may see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because the organism is far too small to see, affected water won’t necessarily look, smell, or taste different. Many homeowners in Alford choose added protection right where water comes into the house so every faucet and fixture has the same defense.
Everyday plumbing and external events can expose water to contaminants through damaged pipes, cross-connections, or runoff that challenges treatment systems. Even with standard treatment, some Alford families prefer an extra barrier for peace of mind—especially where anyone in the household is sensitive to water quality. A whole-house system gives consistent protection to showers, faucets, and appliances across your home.
The most reliable single filter for addressing Giardia at the whole-house level is a cyst-rated absolute membrane filter. These filters work by physically straining out cysts with very fine pores rather than depending on chemical processes. When sized correctly for your home’s flow, an absolute membrane can protect multiple fixtures at once and reduce the chance of cysts making it to your taps.
For Alford homes, the membrane should be installed on the main water line so all incoming water passes through the barrier. Performance hinges on choosing the proper micron rating and keeping the filter maintained so flow and protection remain steady. Some installations add a prefilter ahead of the membrane to capture larger sediment and extend membrane life, while the membrane stage targets Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia; Mr. Pure Water can help size and match the system to your plumbing and household needs.
