Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite that can enter water supplies as resilient cysts, sometimes called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because these organisms are microscopic, they won’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so you wouldn’t notice them just by using a tap. Many Bayou George homeowners choose to add protection where water enters the house to reduce the risk of cysts getting into every faucet and fixture.
Water can become exposed to contamination through events like pipe issues, cross-connections, or runoff that challenge treatment systems. Even when municipal or private treatment is in place, some families in Bayou George prefer an extra barrier for peace of mind—especially if someone in the household is sensitive to water quality. A whole-house system makes sure showers, sinks, and appliances all receive the same level of protection for greater control over what comes through your plumbing.
For whole-house protection against Giardia, a cyst-rated absolute membrane filter is the recommended single filter type. These filters provide a physical barrier with very small pores that trap Giardia cysts instead of depending solely on chemicals. When sized properly for your Bayou George home’s flow needs, a membrane filter can serve multiple fixtures at once and help close gaps in coverage—a simple, mechanical way to reduce the chance of cysts reaching your taps.
Installing a whole-house membrane filter on the main water line ensures all incoming water to your Bayou George home passes through the barrier. Performance depends on selecting the correct micron rating and keeping the filter maintained so flow and protection remain steady. Some systems include an upstream prefilter to remove larger sediment and extend membrane life, but the membrane stage is the critical element for addressing Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia. Mr. Pure Water can help size and match the system to your plumbing and household demand.
