Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite that can enter water supplies as hardy cysts; you may also see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because these organisms are microscopic, they won’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so homeowners in Childs often don’t know there’s a risk without an extra layer of protection. That’s why many families choose treatment where water enters the house — to create a barrier before water reaches faucets, showers, and appliances.
Water in the Putnam County area can be exposed by things like pipe damage, cross-connections, or runoff that affects treatment, and groundwater or river-adjacent systems around Childs can vary in mineral content. Even when municipal or private treatment is in place, some households prefer an added protective measure, particularly if someone in the home is sensitive to water quality. A whole-house filter treats every outlet the same, which is a convenient way for Childs residents to increase control over what comes through their plumbing.
The most effective single filter type for tackling Giardia at the whole-house level is a cyst-rated absolute membrane filter. These filters rely on a physical membrane with very fine pore size to strain out Giardia cysts, rather than depending on chemical treatment alone. When sized correctly for your home’s flow rate, an absolute membrane can protect multiple fixtures across a Childs household without leaving untreated points, offering a direct, mechanical method to reduce the chance of cysts reaching taps.
For best results in Childs, install a whole-house cyst-rated membrane on the main service line so all incoming water passes through the barrier. Performance hinges on selecting the correct micron rating and performing regular maintenance to preserve flow and protection; in areas with moderate hardness and variable sediment, adding a prefilter upstream can extend membrane life. The membrane stage is the critical component for removing Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia, and Mr. Pure Water can help size and match a system to your plumbing and household demand.
