Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite that can travel in water when hardy cysts enter a supply; you may also see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because the organisms are microscopic, they won’t change the taste, smell, or look of your water, so Conch Key homeowners often choose extra protection where water first enters the house. A whole-house barrier gives coverage for showers, sinks and appliances without relying on detecting contamination by sight.
Water in the Florida Keys can be exposed to contamination from things like compromised pipes, cross-connections, or runoff, and many Conch Key properties use either municipal supply or cistern/rainwater systems—so some households prefer an added layer of defense. A whole-house solution treats every fixture the same, which offers peace of mind for families sensitive to water quality or anyone wanting consistent protection throughout their home and plumbing.
For whole-house protection against Giardia, the single most effective choice is a cyst-rated absolute membrane filter. These systems physically strain out Giardia cysts with very fine pores rather than relying on chemicals, and when sized correctly for your home’s flow they protect multiple fixtures simultaneously. In Conch Key homes—where hard water and coastal conditions can accelerate plumbing wear—this mechanical barrier is a reliable way to reduce the chance of cysts reaching your taps.
Installed on the main service line, a whole-house membrane filter ensures all incoming water to your Conch Key home passes through the barrier; choosing the right micron rating and keeping the unit maintained preserves flow and protection. Many homeowners add a sediment prefilter upstream to trap larger particles and extend membrane life, while the membrane stage targets Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia. Mr. Pure Water can help size and place the system for your island plumbing and household demand.
