Giardia in Lely Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Giardia in the Water Supply of Lely Florida Homes

Giardia is a tiny parasite that can enter water supplies as hardy cysts; you may also see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because these cysts are microscopic, they won’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so homeowners often don’t know there’s a risk until they take extra precautions. Many families in Lely choose to add treatment where water comes into the house to reduce the chance of cysts traveling through plumbing and into showers and faucets.

Everyday factors — from heavy seasonal rainfall to pipe issues or backyard cross-connections — can introduce contaminants into household water, and Florida’s year‑round water use makes consistent protection important. Collier County’s groundwater is commonly mineral‑rich and hard, so some Lely residents prefer an additional whole-house barrier for peace of mind and uniform protection across every fixture. A single, well‑installed point at the main line ensures showers, appliances, and taps all receive the same level of treatment.
