Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite sometimes found in water when hardy cysts enter a supply. You may also see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia, but the risk is the same: microscopic cysts that move with water and can arrive at your home unseen. Because you can’t taste, smell, or see these organisms, many South Port homeowners choose an extra layer of protection where water first comes into the house.
Water can become exposed to contaminants through things like damaged pipes, cross-connections, or storm runoff that affects treatment. Even with municipal treatment, some households—especially those with sensitive family members—prefer a secondary barrier for peace of mind. A whole-house system treats every shower, faucet, and appliance the same, which is especially practical for South Port residences where hard municipal water can already stress fixtures and appliances.
The single most effective whole-house option for Giardia is an absolute, cyst-rated membrane filter. These systems use a physical, fine-pored barrier to strain out Giardia cysts instead of depending on chemicals alone. Sized correctly for your home’s flow, a membrane filter provides continuous protection across multiple fixtures so there are no gaps in coverage—a simple, mechanical way to reduce the chance of cysts reaching taps in South Port homes.
A whole-house membrane filter works best installed on the main water line so every drop entering the house passes through the barrier. Performance depends on choosing the right micron rating and keeping the unit maintained so flow and protection remain steady. Many households add a prefilter ahead of the membrane to capture larger sediment and prolong membrane life, while the membrane stage is the primary defense against Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia. Mr. Pure Water can help South Port homeowners size and match the system to their plumbing and household needs.
