Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite that can enter water supplies as hardy cysts; you may also see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because the cysts are invisible, affected water won’t necessarily look, taste, or smell different, yet they can travel through plumbing to reach faucets and showers in your St Augustine South home. That’s why many local homeowners choose protection at the point where water enters the house—to add a physical barrier against organisms that travel with the water.
Water can pick up contaminants from aging pipes, cross-connections, or runoff after heavy rain and storm events that affect treatment. Even with municipal treatment, some families in St. Johns County prefer an extra layer of protection—especially where people are sensitive to water quality. A whole-house filter gives consistent coverage to every shower, faucet, and appliance in a St Augustine South residence, which many homeowners find is a practical way to regain control over what flows through their plumbing.
The most reliable single filter type for addressing Giardia at the whole-house level is a cyst-rated absolute membrane filter. These systems use a fine physical barrier with precise pore size to strain out Giardia cysts rather than depending on chemicals. When sized correctly for your home’s flow, a membrane filter can protect multiple fixtures throughout a St Augustine South house without leaving holes in coverage—a straightforward, mechanical approach to reducing the chance of cysts reaching your taps.
Installed on the main water line, a whole-house membrane filter treats all incoming water for the household. Because it’s a true barrier, effectiveness depends on choosing the right micron rating and keeping the unit maintained so flow and protection remain steady—especially useful in hard-water St Augustine South homes where mineral scale can affect performance. Many systems include an upstream prefilter to catch larger sediment and extend membrane life, but the membrane stage is the critical step for removing Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia. Mr. Pure Water can help size and match the system to your plumbing and household demand.
