Including filter system and high-performance Giardia filter.
Giardia is a tiny parasite that can enter water supplies as tough, infectious cysts; you may also see it called Giardia intestinalis or Giardia lamblia. Because cysts are microscopic, contaminated water usually won’t look, taste, or smell different, so homeowners in Vineyards often choose extra protection at the point where water enters the house. A whole-house solution gives an added layer of defense for families who want to limit the chance of cysts moving through their plumbing.
Water can pick up contamination from things like compromised pipes, cross-connections, or runoff after heavy rains — all concerns in our region’s humid subtropical climate. Even with municipal treatment, some Vineyards residents prefer an additional barrier for peace of mind, especially if anyone in the household is sensitive to water quality. A whole-house system treats every shower, faucet, and appliance the same, which is a practical upgrade for Naples–area homes dealing with hard water and mineral buildup.
The most effective single filter type for whole-house Giardia protection is a cyst-rated absolute membrane filter. These systems remove Giardia cysts with a physical, very fine-pored barrier rather than relying on chemicals alone. When sized correctly for your home’s flow, an absolute membrane can protect multiple fixtures at once without leaving coverage gaps — a simple, mechanical way to reduce the chance of cysts reaching taps in Vineyards houses.
Installed on the main service line, a whole-house membrane filter ensures all incoming water passes through the barrier; selecting the proper micron rating and keeping the filter maintained preserves both flow and protection. Many installations include a prefilter to remove larger sediment — helpful in Collier County homes with hard water — but the membrane stage is the critical step for dealing with Giardia intestinalis and Giardia lamblia. Mr. Pure Water can assess Vineyards plumbing and household demand to recommend the right system.
