Including filter system and high-performance Hormones filter.
Hormones in water are trace organic compounds that can enter drinking supplies through wastewater and runoff. Even when levels are very low, many Kendall homeowners choose to limit unnecessary exposure in the water they drink, cook with, and bathe in for peace of mind. Because these substances usually don’t affect taste, smell, or appearance, they’re easy to miss—so treating water where it enters your home is a proactive way to protect every faucet and fixture in the house.
There’s a lot of mixed information about which systems work best for hormones, and simple sediment filters won’t remove dissolved organic compounds. Disinfection systems focus on microbes but aren’t typically the go-to solution for trace organics. For Kendall homes—many of which contend with hard water from the regional limestone aquifer—a thoughtfully selected whole-house filter provides an additional layer of treatment that helps keep water quality consistent throughout showers, laundry, and kitchen use.
The most effective single-filter choice for reducing hormones in a whole-house configuration is a high-quality activated carbon filter, such as catalytic carbon or a dense carbon block. Activated carbon adsorbs a range of organic compounds as water flows through the media, which is why it’s widely used for taste and odor issues and for harder-to-see contaminants. To work well, the system needs sufficient carbon volume and proper contact time, and when installed at the main line it treats water coming into every tap in your Kendall home.
A correctly sized whole-house activated carbon system also helps reduce chlorine and other chemicals that contribute to dry skin or odor, while addressing trace organics like hormones. Be sure the filter is selected for your home’s flow rate and usage so it won’t be overwhelmed during busy times like showers or irrigation. Carbon media requires periodic replacement once its adsorption capacity is reached; Mr. Pure Water in Kendall can help you choose and maintain the right whole-house carbon filter for your plumbing, household size, and water needs.
