Including filter system and high-performance Oxadiazon filter.
Oxadiazon is a weed-control herbicide used on lawns and agricultural areas, and like other pesticides it can reach source water through runoff. In Bay Harbor and the Miami-Dade area it’s not something you can see or taste, so the only way to know whether oxadiazon or its other names are present is with testing. If you want to limit potential exposure from every faucet, treating water where it enters the house is the simplest, most comprehensive solution for homeowners here.
Water that looks clear in Bay Harbor can still contain dissolved man-made organic chemicals that only labs detect. Oxadiazon is usually tied to runoff or incidental contamination rather than the minerals that cause the hard-water scale common in Miami-area homes, so fixes aimed at hardness or sediment won’t reliably remove it. A whole-house system treats water used for bathing, cooking, laundry and appliances, not just the occasional glass from the kitchen tap.
For reducing oxadiazon, the most practical single solution for Bay Harbor homes is a whole-house activated carbon filter. Activated carbon adsorbs many organic compounds as water passes through the media, and because oxadiazon is an organic herbicide, carbon filtration is typically the recommended technology. Installed at the main service line, this approach treats water for showers, sinks, and all household uses in one step.
A carbon system performs best when it provides sufficient contact time and uses the right media type—such as catalytic carbon or high-capacity granular activated carbon selected for broad VOC and herbicide reduction. Proper sizing is important in Miami-Dade homes because hard municipal water and higher household flow rates can shorten contact time if the tank is undersized. Adding a simple prefilter to protect the carbon from sediment helps maintain consistent performance. Mr. Pure Water can evaluate your Bay Harbor property and recommend the right whole-house carbon system so oxadiazon reduction is reliable at every tap.
