Including filter system and high-performance Oxadiazon filter.
Oxadiazon is a herbicide used to control weeds that can enter source water through runoff and other pathways. Because you can’t see or taste it, the only way to know if oxadiazon is in your plumbing is with testing, and many Lakewood homeowners choose to limit exposure as a precaution. Treating water at the point where it enters your home is a straightforward way to address any trace contaminants coming from every tap.
Even when Lakewood’s water appears clear and pleasant, certain synthetic organic chemicals like oxadiazon can be dissolved and undetectable without lab analysis. Oxadiazon typically comes from runoff or incidental contamination and isn’t the same issue as the minerals that cause hard-water spotting or scale. That means ordinary fixes for hardness or sediment won’t reliably remove it, and a whole-house system treats the water you bathe in, cook with, and launder with — not just the water you drink.
For reducing oxadiazon, a whole-house activated carbon filter is the most effective and practical single option for most homes. Activated carbon adsorbs many organic compounds as water passes through the media, and because oxadiazon is an organic herbicide, carbon filtration is the preferred technology for this type of contaminant. When installed at the main water line in your Lakewood residence, a carbon system treats showers, sinks, appliances, and laundry in one centralized step.
To work well in a Lakewood home, a carbon system needs adequate contact time and the right media, such as catalytic carbon or high-capacity granular activated carbon formulated for broad VOC and herbicide reduction. Proper sizing is important because high household flow rates can shorten contact time and reduce adsorption if the tank is too small. Adding a basic prefilter helps keep sediment from clogging or channeling the carbon bed. Mr. Pure Water can assess your plumbing and recommend a whole-house carbon filter sized for your household so oxadiazon reduction stays consistent at every tap.
