Including filter system and high-performance Personal Care Products filter.
Personal care products can leave tiny residues that enter water systems through everyday use and disposal. This group covers soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics, plus related compounds often referred to as PPCPs. You probably won’t detect them by taste or smell, yet many Baum homeowners prefer to limit these ingredients in water used for bathing, laundry and cooking. When people mention PPCPs, they mean these personal care items and similar consumer chemicals that sometimes persist through treatment.
Because personal care products include many different chemistries, they act differently once they enter water: some dissolve readily, others bind to particles, and a few degrade slowly. That variability can make treatments inconsistent depending on water source and how it’s processed before it reaches Baum residences. Installing treatment at the point of entry helps create a steadier water experience throughout your home by reducing a broad range of personal care product residues across all faucets and showers.
For most personal care products, the single most effective whole-home option is an activated carbon system sized for full-house flow. Activated carbon adsorbs many organic compounds, including a wide set of ingredients commonly found in personal care products and PPCPs. Because these compounds are often present at very low concentrations, it’s important the water spends enough contact time with the carbon while maintaining good flow, which is why a properly sized, high-capacity carbon tank is generally preferred over small cartridge filters for whole-house treatment.
At Mr. Pure Water in Baum we design whole-house activated carbon systems to treat water as it enters your home so reductions occur before water reaches showers, sinks and appliances. This approach targets personal care products that typical sediment or point-of-use filters don’t address well. With the right carbon media and correct sizing for your household flow, you can improve water quality throughout the house without changing how you use plumbing; a point-of-entry activated carbon filter is a practical, home-wide step if you’re concerned about PPCPs.
