Including filter system and high-performance Personal Care Products filter.
Personal care products can leave tiny residues that enter water through normal use and disposal. This group covers ingredients from soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics, plus related consumer compounds that may persist at low concentrations. You won’t usually detect them by taste or smell, but many Belair homeowners prefer to limit these substances in the water they use for bathing, cooking and laundry. When people say PPCPs, they mean these personal care products and similar chemicals that can remain after treatment.
Because personal care products include many different formulas, they don’t all act the same in water: some dissolve readily, others attach to particles, and a few break down very slowly. That variability — along with differences in water sourcing and treatment — is why these PPCPs can appear intermittently. For Belair residents wanting steadier water quality throughout their house, reducing personal care products at the point where water enters the home helps limit daily exposure at every faucet and shower.
For most personal care products, the best single-filter option is a whole-house activated carbon system sized for full-home flow. Activated carbon adsorbs many organic compounds, including a wide range of ingredients found in personal care products and PPCPs. Because these compounds are often present at very low levels, it’s important to provide sufficient contact time with the carbon while preserving strong flow — which is why a correctly sized, high-capacity carbon tank is generally preferable to small cartridges for whole-home treatment in Belair properties.
Mr. Pure Water installs whole-house carbon filtration to treat incoming water so reduction happens before it reaches showers, sinks and appliances in your Belair home. This approach targets personal care products that basic sediment filters can’t remove on their own. With the proper carbon media and tank sizing, you’ll see improved water quality without changing how you use your plumbing day to day. If PPCPs are a concern, a point-of-entry activated carbon filter is a practical whole-home solution.
