Including filter system and high-performance Personal Care Products filter.
Everyday use and disposal of soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics can leave trace ingredients that eventually enter water systems. These personal care products — sometimes called PPCPs — include a wide mix of residues and related consumer chemicals that may persist at very low concentrations. They don’t always change the taste or smell of water, but many Kinard residents prefer to reduce what’s in the water they use for bathing, laundry, and cooking.
Because personal care products come from many different formulas, they react differently once they reach the water: some dissolve, some attach to particles, and others degrade slowly. Their presence can vary with upstream conditions and treatment methods, so levels may fluctuate. For homeowners in Kinard who want steadier water quality throughout the house, limiting personal care products at the point where water enters the home helps provide a more consistent experience at every faucet and shower.
The most effective single-filter strategy for many personal care products is a whole-house activated carbon system sized for full-home flow. Activated carbon adsorbs a broad range of organic compounds, including many ingredients found in personal care products and PPCPs. Because these contaminants are often present in very small amounts, it’s important the water has sufficient contact time with the carbon while still supporting normal household flow — which is why a properly sized, high-capacity carbon tank is usually preferred over small cartridge filters.
Mr. Pure Water installs whole-house carbon filtration at the point of entry so water reaching Kinard showers, sinks and appliances passes through treatment first. This approach targets personal care products that standard sediment filters won’t catch, and with the right carbon media and system sizing you can raise overall water quality without changing how you use your plumbing. If you’re worried about PPCPs, a point-of-entry activated carbon filter is a practical way to protect water throughout your home.
