Including filter system and high-performance Personal Care Products filter.
Everyday personal care products can leave tiny residues that sometimes find their way into water after use and disposal. This category covers mixings from soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics, plus related consumer chemicals often called PPCPs. You might not detect them by taste or smell, but many Mount Carmel homeowners prefer limiting what’s in the water used for bathing, laundry and cooking. When people mention PPCPs, they mean these kinds of personal care ingredients and similar compounds that can persist through standard treatment.
Because personal care products include many different chemistries, they respond differently once in water: some dissolve quickly, others bind to particles, and a few degrade slowly. That variety can mean these PPCPs appear intermittently depending on upstream conditions and treatment. For Mount Carmel families who want a steadier water experience throughout their house, reducing personal care products at the point of entry helps limit exposure at every faucet and shower.
For removing many personal care product residues, the single most effective option is a whole-house activated carbon system sized to handle full-home flow. Activated carbon adsorbs a wide range of organic compounds, including many ingredients found in personal care products and PPCPs. Because these substances are often present at very low concentrations, the system needs adequate contact time with the carbon while keeping strong household flow—so a properly sized, high-capacity carbon tank is generally preferred over small cartridge filters for whole-home treatment.
Mr. Pure Water installs whole-house activated carbon filtration to treat incoming water before it reaches showers, sinks and appliances in Mount Carmel homes. This point-of-entry approach is more effective at addressing personal care products than basic sediment filters alone. With the right carbon media and correct sizing for your house, you can improve overall water quality without altering how you use your plumbing; for many homeowners concerned about PPCPs, a whole-home carbon filter is a practical, effective step.
