Including filter system and high-performance Personal Care Products filter.
Everyday use and disposal of soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics can leave trace ingredients that make their way into household water. These personal care products—often called PPCPs—cover a wide range of consumer chemicals that can persist at very low concentrations. You might not detect them by taste or smell, but many New Harmony homeowners prefer to limit these residues in water used for bathing, laundry and cooking as a precaution.
Because personal care products come in many formulas, they behave differently once in water: some dissolve, some attach to particles, and others degrade slowly. That variability means levels can change with source water and treatment, so results at the tap may be inconsistent. For residents of New Harmony who want steadier water quality across showers and faucets, treating water at the point of entry helps reduce day-to-day presence of PPCPs throughout the home.
The most effective single-filter solution for many personal care product ingredients is a whole-house activated carbon system sized to handle full-home flow. Activated carbon adsorbs a broad range of organic compounds, including many ingredients found in personal care products and PPCPs. Because these chemicals are often at very low concentrations, it’s important to give water sufficient contact time with the carbon while preserving household flow—so a properly sized, high-capacity carbon tank is usually preferred over small cartridge filters for whole-home use.
Mr. Pure Water installs whole-house carbon filters to treat water as it enters New Harmony homes, reducing personal care products before water reaches showers, sinks and appliances. This approach addresses contaminants that sediment or basic filters can’t target on their own. With the right carbon media and correct sizing, you’ll get improved water quality without changing daily plumbing use—making a point-of-entry activated carbon system a practical step for households concerned about PPCPs.
