Personal Care Products in Palm Shadows Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Personal Care Products in the Water Supply of Palm Shadows Florida Homes

Personal care products can leave trace ingredients that enter drinking water through everyday use and disposal. This group includes residues from soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics, along with related consumer chemicals that often occur at very low concentrations. You may not detect these compounds by smell or taste, yet many Palm Shadows homeowners prefer to limit what’s in their bathing, cooking and laundry water. When people say PPCPs, they mean these personal care products and similar compounds that can persist through conventional treatment.

Because personal care products come in many formulas, they behave differently once they reach the water supply—some dissolve, some cling to particles, and others degrade slowly. That variety helps explain why levels can fluctuate with upstream conditions, rainfall runoff during Palm Shadows’ humid summers, and the local treatment process. Installing treatment at the point where water enters your home gives you a more consistent experience across faucets and showers and reduces day-to-day exposure throughout the house.
