Personal Care Products in Plantation Isles Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Personal Care Products in the Water Supply of Plantation Isles Florida Homes

Personal care products leave tiny residues that can enter drinking water through everyday use and disposal. This group covers soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances, and cosmetics, plus related consumer compounds that often occur at very low concentrations. You usually won’t detect them by taste or smell, but many Plantation Isles homeowners prefer to limit what’s in the water they bathe, cook and launder with. When people say PPCPs, they mean these personal care products and similar consumer chemicals that can persist through standard treatment.

Because personal care products include many different formulations, they act differently once in water: some dissolve readily, others attach to particles, and some break down slowly. That variability — along with changes in upstream conditions and municipal treatment — means concentrations can fluctuate. For Plantation Isles residents in Broward County who want steadier water quality across showers, sinks and appliances, treating water at the point of entry helps reduce day-to-day exposure from these PPCPs throughout the home.
