Personal Care Products in Sabal Palms Estates Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of Personal Care Products in the Water Supply of Sabal Palms Estates Florida Homes

Personal care products can leave behind trace ingredients that enter water systems through daily use and disposal. This group covers residues from soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics, plus related consumer chemicals that may persist at very low concentrations. Often they don’t affect taste or smell, but many Sabal Palms Estates homeowners prefer to limit what’s in the water used for bathing, laundry and cooking. When people say PPCPs, they mean these personal care products and similar compounds that can pass through conventional treatment.

Because personal care products include many different formulations, they act differently in water — some dissolve, some cling to particles, and others degrade slowly. That variability means levels can vary depending on source water and treatment, so spotting them can be intermittent. In Sabal Palms Estates, where homes deal with Florida’s generally hard, mineral-rich groundwater and day-to-day household uses, reducing personal care products at the point where water enters your home helps provide a steadier water experience at all faucets and showers.
