Including filter system and high-performance Personal Care Products filter.
Everyday grooming and cleaning products can leave tiny residues that enter household water through normal use and disposal. Personal care products include traces from soaps, shampoos, lotions, deodorants, fragrances and cosmetics, plus related consumer compounds that may persist at very low concentrations. You probably won’t detect these by smell or taste in Stock Island, but many homeowners prefer to limit what reaches showers, washing machines and kitchen taps. When people use the shorthand PPCPs, they mean these types of personal care products and similar chemicals that can remain after treatment.
Because the ingredients in personal care products vary so much, they behave differently once they enter the water system: some dissolve readily, others attach to particles, and a few break down slowly. That variability — combined with shifting source water and treatment conditions around Stock Island and the wider Keys — means detections can be intermittent. For a steadier experience throughout your home, reducing personal care products at the point where water enters your house helps limit exposure across every faucet and shower.
For most personal care products, the single most effective whole-home option is an activated carbon system sized for full-house flow. Activated carbon adsorbs many organic ingredients associated with personal care products and PPCPs. Because these contaminants are often present at very low levels, the system needs sufficient contact time with the carbon while still supporting normal household flow — which is why a properly sized, high-capacity carbon tank is preferred over small cartridge-style filters for whole-house use.
Mr. Pure Water installs whole-house activated carbon filters to treat water as it enters Stock Island homes so reductions occur before water reaches showers, sinks and appliances. This approach is more effective at addressing personal care products than basic sediment-only filters, and with the right carbon media and sizing you won’t need to change how you use plumbing day to day. If PPCPs are a concern, a point-of-entry carbon system is a practical, home-wide step that pairs well with the hard, mineral-rich water typical in the Florida Keys.
