PFAS in Sugarloaf Shores Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of PFAS in the Water Supply of Sugarloaf Shores Florida Homes

PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals often called forever chemicals because they linger in the environment. They’ve been used for stain resistance, water repellency and some industrial uses, and when they get into water they’re not always removed by simple filters like pitchers. In Sugarloaf Shores and the surrounding Florida Keys, many homeowners start asking questions after seeing utility notices or local reporting about testing — especially given our hard, mineral-rich water that can complicate treatment efforts.

Because PFAS may be present even when water looks and tastes normal, many families on Upper and Lower Sugarloaf Key prefer extra protection beyond standard treatment. A whole-house system treats water used for showers, laundry, dishwashing and cooking, so every faucet and appliance gets the same level of filtration. That’s handy here in Monroe County where hard water and scale buildup are common concerns: treating water at the point of entry reduces the chance of contaminants reappearing during everyday tasks like washing produce or filling ice trays.
