Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS family and can turn up in household water supplies. Atlantis homeowners often first hear about it from a private test, a utility communication, or questions about local drinking water quality. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and not always easy to address, many families in Palm Beach County prefer treating water at the whole-house level so every faucet and shower is covered. Tackling it proactively helps you feel confident about water used for cooking, drinking, and bathing in your Atlantis home.
PFBA may be present even when water looks, smells, and tastes normal, and it can appear alongside other PFAS compounds. That’s one reason Atlantis residents sometimes opt for treatment that targets a broader range of PFAS rather than only basic taste-and-odor filters. A current water analysis is a smart first step so you know what’s in your supply — especially in hard municipal water like much of Palm Beach County — and then the right whole-house system can be sized to fit your household’s needs.
To reduce PFBA where water enters an Atlantis home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is typically the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS, as water moves through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank provides the contact time needed for better reduction and delivers treated water to every faucet, shower, and appliance in your house, while also helping address nuisance compounds that carbon commonly captures.
Because PFBA can be more difficult to remove than some larger PFAS, removal performance depends on carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate — not just installing a single cartridge. Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house GAC systems for Atlantis homes to match family water use and maintain effective contact time through the media. Regular media replacement keeps the carbon from becoming exhausted; if your testing shows multiple PFAS, we’ll help you choose a configuration that prioritizes PFBA reduction while supporting broader PFAS treatment goals.
