Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is a member of the PFAS family that can appear in household water. In Bascom, homeowners often discover it through private testing, a utility notification, or simply by asking what's in their water. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and can be hard to manage once present, many families opt for a treatment strategy that reduces it throughout the entire house. Tackling it proactively helps you feel more secure about the water you use for drinking, cooking, and bathing.
PFBA may be present even when your water looks clear and tastes normal. It can also occur with other PFAS, which is why some Bascom homeowners choose solutions designed to address a broader suite of these compounds instead of relying on a simple taste-and-odor cartridge. If PFBA is a concern, start with an up-to-date water test so you know what levels and related contaminants are in your supply. From there, the appropriate whole-house system can be sized to fit your home and water use patterns.
To reduce PFBA right where water enters a Bascom residence, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. Carbon filtration captures many organic contaminants, including a range of PFAS, by adsorbing them as water flows through the media. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed for improved reduction and protects every faucet, shower, and appliance in the home, while also cutting nuisance compounds that carbon commonly removes.
Because PFBA can be harder to treat than some larger PFAS, performance relies on carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate—not just installing a cartridge. Mr. Pure Water configures whole-house GAC systems for Bascom households to ensure adequate contact time through the media given your typical demand. Regular media replacement is important so the carbon doesn't become exhausted. If your testing shows multiple PFAS, we can recommend a system focused on PFBA reduction that also supports broader PFAS treatment goals.
