Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS family members that can show up in household water supplies. In Capps, homeowners often hear about it after receiving a water test, utility notification, or asking questions about their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent and can be hard to manage once it’s in the environment, many local families prefer treating the water where it enters the home so all faucets, showers, and appliances are covered. Tackling it early gives you more confidence in the water you use for cooking, drinking, and bathing around Capps.
PFBA may be present even when water appears clear, smells normal, and tastes fine. It can also occur alongside other PFAS, which is why some Capps residents choose systems that address a broader group of these compounds instead of relying on simple taste-and-odor filters. If PFBA is a concern, start with a current water analysis so you know what contaminants are in your supply; from there a whole-house system can be properly sized to fit your Capps home and household water use.
To reduce PFBA at the point of entry for your Capps home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS compounds, as water moves through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed for better reduction and treats every tap and shower in the house. This method also tends to improve overall water quality by removing common nuisance compounds that carbon captures.
Because PFBA can be more difficult to reduce than some larger PFAS, performance relies on carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate—not just putting a carbon cartridge on a line. Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house GAC systems for Capps homes to match household demand and maintain effective contact time through the media. Regular media replacement is important so the carbon doesn’t become exhausted. If your water testing shows multiple PFAS, we can help you choose a GAC configuration that focuses on PFBA reduction while supporting broader PFAS treatment goals.
