Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one member of the PFAS family that can sometimes turn up in household water. In Chatham many homeowners first hear about it after a private test, a utility question, or when researching what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and not always easy to remove, families often choose a treatment that lowers it throughout the entire house. Tackling PFBA at the source helps you feel more secure about the water used for cooking, drinking, and bathing here in humid, subtropical Florida.
PFBA may be present even when your water looks and tastes normal, and it can occur alongside other PFAS compounds. That’s why many Chatham residents opt for systems that address a broader range of PFAS rather than relying only on basic taste-and-odor cartridges. The sensible first step is a current water analysis so you know what’s in your supply; with those results, a whole-house system can be sized to fit your home and typical water use.
To reduce PFBA where water enters a Chatham home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS, as water flows through the carbon media. When a tank is properly sized it gives the contact time needed for better PFBA reduction and provides treated water to every faucet, shower, and appliance while also improving overall water quality by capturing common nuisance compounds.
PFBA can be tougher to reduce than some larger PFAS, so performance hinges on carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate—not just installing a cartridge. Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house GAC systems for Chatham homes to match household demand and maintain effective contact time in the media. Regular media replacement keeps the carbon from becoming exhausted; if your test shows multiple PFAS, we’ll help you choose a configuration that prioritizes PFBA reduction while supporting broader PFAS treatment goals.
