Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS family that can show up in household water. East Mims homeowners commonly discover it through private testing, utility communications, or questions about what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent and can be hard to remove once it’s in the environment, many families on the Space Coast prefer a treatment plan that reduces it everywhere in the house. Tackling it early helps you feel more secure about the water you use for cooking, drinking, and bathing in our humid subtropical climate.
PFBA may be present even when water appears clear, tastes normal, and has no smell. It often appears alongside other PFAS, which is why some East Mims residents opt for systems that address a broader class of these compounds instead of just a basic taste-and-odor filter. The first practical step is a current water analysis so you know exactly what’s in your supply — especially since local groundwater and moderate hardness can affect how systems perform. From those results, a whole-house solution can be sized to fit your home and daily water use.
To reduce PFBA at the point where water enters an East Mims home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including a variety of PFAS, as water moves through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank provides the contact time needed for improved reduction and treats every faucet, shower, and appliance — a helpful benefit in areas that rely on groundwater and see mineral scaling and biofilm tendencies.
Because PFBA can be tougher to address than some larger PFAS, performance comes down to carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate — not just installing a small cartridge. Mr. Pure Water sizes whole-house GAC systems for East Mims households to preserve adequate contact time through the media. Regular media replacement is important so the carbon doesn’t become exhausted and lose effectiveness. If your test results show multiple PFAS, we can recommend a configuration that prioritizes PFBA reduction while supporting broader PFAS treatment goals for homes around Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and nearby neighborhoods.
