Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS chemicals that can show up in household water. In Geigers Landing many homeowners first hear about it after a private well test, a municipal notice, or when they start asking questions about what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and not always easy to manage, families often prefer a homewide treatment that reduces it for drinking, cooking, and bathing so they can feel more confident about everyday water use.
PFBA doesn’t change how water looks or smells, so you can’t rely on taste or clarity to spot it. It can occur together with other PFAS, which is why some Geigers Landing residents opt for systems that target a broader suite of these compounds rather than a simple taste-and-odor filter. Start with an up-to-date water analysis—especially if you use a well or know your municipal source varies—then choose a whole-house system sized for your home and local water conditions.
To reduce PFBA where water enters your Geigers Landing home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is typically the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS compounds, as water moves through the carbon media. When sized correctly, a GAC tank provides the contact time needed to lower PFBA and treats every faucet, shower, and appliance while also improving nuisance tastes and odors.
PFBA can be tougher to remove than some longer-chain PFAS, so removal performance depends on carbon quality, bed depth, and the flow rate—not just having a small cartridge on a line. At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house GAC systems for Geigers Landing homes to match family demand and local water characteristics, helping maintain effective contact time. Regular media replacement is important to prevent exhaustion, and if testing shows multiple PFAS we’ll recommend a configuration that prioritizes PFBA reduction while addressing broader treatment goals.
