Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is a type of PFAS that can turn up in household water supplies, and many Hell Gate homeowners first hear about it from a private test or public notice. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment, families here often prefer a treatment that reduces it throughout the house rather than at just one faucet. Addressing potential PFBA early gives you greater confidence in the water you use for drinking, cooking, and bathing in our humid subtropical community.
Just because water in Hell Gate looks clear and tastes normal doesn’t mean PFBA isn’t present; it can occur without visible signs and may be found alongside other PFAS. That’s why some local residents opt for systems targeting a broader range of these compounds instead of simple taste-and-odor cartridges. The best first move is a current water analysis so you know what’s in your supply, then select a whole-house system sized for your home and daily water use.
To reduce PFBA where water enters a Hell Gate home, the most effective single-filter choice is typically a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) system. As water flows through the carbon media, many organic contaminants — including numerous PFAS compounds — are adsorbed. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed for improved reduction and treats every faucet, shower, and appliance, while also helping with other nuisance compounds carbon captures.
PFBA can be tougher to remove than larger PFAS, so performance in Hell Gate depends on carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate — not just adding a small carbon cartridge. Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house GAC systems to match your household demand to preserve effective contact time in the media. Regular media replacement prevents exhaustion and loss of capacity, and if testing shows multiple PFAS, we’ll help you pick a configuration that focuses on PFBA reduction while supporting broader PFAS treatment goals.
