Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS chemicals that can turn up in household water. Highland Beach homeowners often discover it after a private test, a utility notice, or when they’re simply checking what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and can be hard to remove once present, many families on the barrier island prefer treating water at the point it enters the home so the whole house benefits—drinking, cooking, and showering included. Addressing potential PFBA early gives you more confidence in the water you and your neighbors rely on.
PFBA may be invisible — clear water, normal taste, and no smell don’t rule it out. It can occur alongside other PFAS, which is why some Highland Beach residents choose solutions aimed at a broader range of these compounds instead of a basic taste-and-odor cartridge. The first practical step is a current water analysis so you know what’s in your supply; from there, a whole-house system can be sized to your home, taking into account local factors like hard water that can affect system performance and maintenance.
To reduce PFBA where water enters a Highland Beach home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. GAC removes many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS, by adsorbing them as water flows through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed for better PFBA reduction and treats every faucet, shower, and appliance — helping with everyday nuisances that hard water in Palm Beach County can exacerbate.
Because PFBA can be tougher to capture than some larger PFAS molecules, performance comes down to carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate—not just installing a small cartridge. Mr. Pure Water configures whole-house GAC systems for Highland Beach homes to match household demand and local conditions, helping ensure sufficient contact time in the media. Routine media replacement keeps the carbon from becoming exhausted; if your testing shows multiple PFAS, we’ll recommend a system configuration that emphasizes PFBA reduction while addressing broader PFAS concerns.
