Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is a PFAS compound that can appear in household water. In Hilolo you might hear about it after a private test, a utility advisory, or when researching what’s in your taps. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and not always easy to remove, many families opt for a treatment plan that protects every faucet in the house. Taking action early brings peace of mind for drinking, cooking and bathing water in our humid subtropical community.
You can’t rely on sight, smell or taste to spot PFBA — water can look and taste normal while still containing these compounds. PFBA often occurs alongside other PFAS, which is why some Hilolo homeowners select systems designed to handle a broader group of contaminants rather than a simple taste-and-odor cartridge. Start with a recent water test so you know what’s present, then pick a whole-house system sized for your home’s use and needs.
To reduce PFBA where water enters your Hilolo home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including a range of PFAS, as water moves through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed for improved removal and treats every faucet, shower and appliance, while also cutting nuisance compounds that carbon typically captures.
PFBA can be tougher to remove than some larger PFAS, so results depend on carbon quality, bed depth and flow rate rather than simply having a cartridge in line. Mr. Pure Water configures whole-house GAC systems for your household demand to preserve contact time in the media. Regular media replacement is important so the carbon doesn’t become exhausted. If testing in Hilolo shows multiple PFAS, we’ll help design a setup that prioritizes PFBA reduction while addressing broader PFAS concerns.
