Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS chemicals that can be found in household water. Island Walk homeowners often hear about it after a private test, a utility notification, or when researching what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent and not easily broken down, many families in our Naples–Marco Island metro area choose a treatment that reduces it throughout the entire house so they can feel confident about water for drinking, cooking, and bathing.
PFBA may be present even when water looks clear, tastes normal, and has no odor — something Island Walk residents know well with our hard groundwater and mineral issues. It can occur with other PFAS compounds, which is why homeowners often opt for systems designed to address a broader range of these contaminants rather than a simple taste-and-odor cartridge. The right first step is a current water analysis, then selecting a whole-house system sized for your home and daily water use in North Naples.
To reduce PFBA at the point of entry, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. As water flows through the carbon media, many organic contaminants — including numerous PFAS compounds — are adsorbed. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed to improve reduction and protects every faucet, shower, and appliance in Island Walk, while also helping with nuisance compounds that carbon commonly captures.
PFBA can be tougher to remove than some larger PFAS, so performance comes down to carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate rather than simply installing a cartridge. Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house GAC systems for Island Walk homes to match household demand and ensure adequate contact time in the media. Regular media replacement keeps the system effective before the carbon is exhausted, and if testing shows multiple PFAS we’ll help you choose a configuration that prioritizes PFBA reduction while addressing broader PFAS treatment goals.
