Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one member of the PFAS family that can be found in household water supplies. Marcy homeowners often hear about it after a private test, a public notice, or when researching what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent in the environment and not always easy to remove, many local families prefer a treatment option that reduces it throughout the entire house. Taking action sooner gives you greater peace of mind about the water you use for drinking, cooking and bathing in Marcy’s humid subtropical climate.
PFBA may be present even when water looks clear, tastes normal, and has no odor — which is why visibility isn’t a reliable guide. It can also appear alongside other PFAS, so Marcy residents sometimes choose systems designed to address a broader range of these compounds instead of relying on a basic taste-and-odor filter. The sensible first step is a current water analysis so you know exactly what you’re dealing with; from there, we can recommend a whole-house system sized for your home and typical water use in the Marcy area.
To reduce PFBA where water enters your Marcy home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is typically the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS compounds, as water flows through the carbon media. When a GAC tank is properly sized it provides the contact time needed for improved reduction and treats every faucet, shower and appliance in the house — a practical choice for homeowners wanting whole-home protection.
PFBA can be harder to remove than some larger PFAS, so performance depends on carbon quality, bed depth and flow rate — not just having a small cartridge on a line. At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house GAC systems for Marcy households to maintain effective contact time through the media and match your daily demand. Regular media replacement keeps the carbon from becoming exhausted and losing capacity, and if testing shows multiple PFAS we’ll help you pick a configuration that emphasizes PFBA reduction while supporting broader PFAS treatment goals.
